Meeting the Moment

The prioritization of health and wellness has accelerated in recent years – and now, food means so much more to consumers than it used to. Today, people want more from the foods they eat and beverages they drink – more for their personal health, more for the health of their communities and more for the health of the planet. People are shopping with purpose and demanding brands that align with their values.

With a global history dating back more than 100 years, Danone North America is fueled by its mission to bring health through food to as many people as possible through purpose-driven, market-winning growth. Today, this mission has never been more relevant.

Bringing Health to the Shelf

Danone brings transformative innovation to market based on the company’s belief that the health of people and the planet are interconnected, and that it has a responsibility to advance both. Consumers recognize that food can positively impact their own personal health and that of the planet. Danone’s innovations meet that moment and bring health to the shelf for both dairy and plant-based lovers.

Innovation Driven By Purpose & Performance

Guided by its purpose to do more with less, as well as consumers’ desire to vote with their dollar, Danone’s Two Good yogurt launched its ‘Good Save’ line in 2021. Aligned with increasing societal concern about climate change (and because food waste is a major contributor to climate change), the brand took action and looked inward at its innovation model. Two Good ‘Good Save’ is the only yogurt line to use Verified Rescued Produce™ – seasonal, delicious fruit - and save hundreds of thousands of pounds of food that would have otherwise gone to waste.

Creating a New Consumer Taste Experience

As the largest plant-based food and beverage company in North America, Danone set out to tackle the top challenges to plant-based adoption: taste and texture. Leveraging its best-in-class research and innovation capabilities, the company deconstructed the classic dairy drinking experience and created a new dairy-like segment with Silk Nextmilk™ and So Delicious® Dairy Free Wondermilk™. Based on 30 years of data and research and collaboration with Danone’s dairy experts, these blends are game-changing innovation for the plant-based aisle.

50 Years of Mission in Action

Danone has been guided by a distinct principle since 1972: the Dual Project – its trailblazing vision of corporate responsibility, introduced by then-CEO Antoine Riboud, that focuses on the importance of both shareholder and societal value.

“The responsibility of our business goes far beyond our factory gate. The Dual Project, in its most simple form, is our responsibility to have a vibrant economic business and do that in a way that benefits people and society.”

- Shane Grant – CEO, Danone North America

In 2018, Danone took its Dual Project heritage a step further, becoming the world’s largest Certified B Corporation® – the ultimate expression of the company’s long-held belief that purpose and performance are interconnected.

From the company’s regenerative agriculture program – the most comprehensive in the dairy industry – to its values-driven culture, to its purpose-centric, health-forward brands, Danone North America has delivered strong growth while making a positive impact for its people, communities and planet. As Danone evolves into one of the fastest-growing large cap CPG companies in North America, the company remains more committed than ever to using its business as a force for good to create a better, more sustainable future.
