CALDIC

Founded in 1970, Caldic provides value-add solutions to the food, personal care, pharma and industrial formulation markets in Europe, North America, Latin America and Asia Pacific. Through investments in state-of-the-art application and product-testing labs, manufacturing and warehousing capabilities and cGMP-certified cleanrooms Caldic supports its business partners in driving their operational efficiency through the delivery of customised services.

Alexander Wessels, CEO of Caldic and seasoned executive with over 30 years of experience in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries, explains, “Our commitment to add measurable value in distribution solutions is driven by the strong partnerships our teams nurture with our customers and principals – for whom they go above and beyond – to deliver solutions, through innovation and customization, in the life science and industrial formulations market”.

Caldic exemplifies its slogan, Because We Care, through the many inspiring solutions it provides across the supply chain. Some of these include application support in product development, addressing specific consumer trends for instance, and manufacturing of customised food ingredient blends. For pharma customers, the Caldic expertise and cGMP facilities act as an extension of their procurement and warehousing function. Additionally, Caldic industry experts are proficient in assisting with reformulations and giving technical on-site support to address and resolve operational processing issues. Furthermore, various packing options enable products to be tailored to customer-specific processing conditions.

With Caldic’s ever expanding global presence, the organisation is mindful of minimising its carbon footprint and growing its business sustainably. Wessels expands further on the topic, “At Caldic, innovation and sustainability go hand-in-hand. We’re transparent about our working practices – from the sourcing of raw materials for formulations, to production as well distribution - ensuring safe and fair working conditions for all our employees as we work on our ESG agenda.” The company has been awarded the Ecovadis Gold Ratings in several locations and their goal is to achieve a Platinum rating across their sites by 2026.

In a business where distribution, repackaging and subsequent redistribution plays a large role, the handling and logistics of it is important from an ESG perspective. Operations Director Kristen Rosenbaum states, “[Caldic is] increasingly taking a regional approach to the logistics infrastructure – leveraging, for instance, the entire European infrastructure. The optimum utilisation of our network of local facilities will help us to better serve our business partners, reduce our footprint, minimise the transport and meet our ESG goals.”

The commitment to the environment and a sustainable society at large is not only present in the organisation’s day-to-day functioning but also in its community engagement initiatives. They dedicate two days a year in which employees can volunteer and participate in charity drives and other activities with local NGOs while also donating to them.

With over 2750 employees and counting, across 32 countries, Caldic is keen to promote personal and professional development and provides a host of opportunities. Wessels states, “As Caldic continues to expand across the globe, the opportunities for employees and our partners also grow at an exponential rate. With our recent mergers, we are making a mark in high-growth markets like Latin America and Asia Pacific, creating more avenues for growth, mobility and collaboration among employees and business partners, ultimately cementing a strong foundation to achieve new milestones together.”
